I’d already been a Staffs undergraduate and knowing the lecturers and them knowing me really helped my decision to move back home and do the Masters.

After graduating with a BSc Sport and Exercise degree from Staffordshire University, Harry Miller returned to his home city of Leicester, convinced of his next move.

As well as securing himself a job with Co-op, he embarked on a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology, also from Staffordshire University, by distance learning.

Harry, who graduated with Merit at the Awards Ceremony last week, said: “I’d already been a Staffs undergraduate and knowing the lecturers and them knowing me really helped my decision to move back home and do the Masters.”

“I was able to contact my supervisors when I needed them and speak to them on Skype as well as email and text to check I was on the right track and that really reassured me.”

The distance learning degree helped Harry to focus on his postgraduate studies away from the distractions of student life.

For his project, Harry used a team building intervention ‘Personal Disclosure Mutual Sharing’ with Kibworth Cricket Club and looked at how it increased social identity and perceived support within the team.

He said: “I really enjoyed the experience and the fact that it was able to make a difference to the team. I’m now looking to do a PhD as I want to carry on learning, researching and applying that research.”
