Academic Support

When you join, you’ll be assigned an academic mentor. They will be responsible for supporting you as you begin your academic studies.

We also have academic skills advisors who can help with specific needs. Typical areas of support include assignment structure, academic writing, critical thinking, effective reading, planning work and time management.

This assistance is available in a variety of ways, including through one-to-one appointments with specialists, peer mentors and online resources.

Financial Support

The University offers a range of financial help to eligible students. This includes support for specific groups such as student parents, estranged students and care leavers.

There are also a number of bursaries and awards available through the Horizon Fund to help students in a variety of ways.

As a student at our London campus, you may also be eligible for a bursary or scholarship through one of the following schemes:

Cost of Living Scholarship

The Staffordshire University Cost of Living Scholarship has been drawn up in response to students’ worries about living costs. We are committed to ensuring you get all the help you need to settle into university life and succeed.

The scholarship is available to new foundation year or first-year students who come from households with an income under £25,000 and are studying at our Stoke, Stafford or London campuses.

Everybody can experience issues with health and wellbeing at some point in their life. We are committed to ensuring our students are properly supported whenever they need help.

Our on-campus student helpdesk is the first point of contact for all our students. From here, we can provide the support needed or put you in touch with our specialist wellbeing services.

Inclusion Needs

Our Student Inclusion Team offers a range of information and advice. This includes help to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and offering diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties.

Once you are enrolled as a student, we can also put extra steps in place for you through a learning support statement (LSS). It is personalised to your needs.
