New entry in THE Young University Rankings

The Times Higher Education Young Universities Rankings includes 351 universities that are 50 years old or younger and is based on the same performance indicators as the flagship World University Rankings including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The UK is the most represented country overall with 34 universities and three new entries including Staffordshire University.

Welcoming the announcement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Liz Barnes CBE said: “We pride ourselves on being globally connected and encourage our staff and students to look worldwide in their pursuit of knowledge. Our inclusion helps us to further our reputation both in terms of our collaborative approach to research and innovative and applied learning.”

“We’ve achieved our aim of being in top 50 per cent of UK League Tables and we’re delighted that our work and impacts are being recognised globally in these international university rankings.”

Overall 60 countries across Europe Australasia, Asia, North America, Latin America and Africa feature in the eight annual edition of the table.

• Staffordshire University has over 100 years of education heritage but was granted university status in 1992.
• The University was recognised with a 'Gold' award in the 2019 Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) for delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for students. Student satisfaction, graduate employability and teaching quality has contributed to Staffordshire University’s rise in the UK League Tables and its best ever performance in the Guardian League Tables 2020 - we’re now 37th of 121 higher education institutions!
