The Peter Coates MSc Entrepreneurship is designed for people who want to build, create and innovate. Developed in association with the Peter Coates Foundation, this is a Masters built by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs - combining practical business building with the mindset, networks and support needed to turn ideas into reality. Whether you already have a start-up idea or are still discovering where your ambitions could take you, this course gives you the opportunity to develop your venture from day one.
About this course
This isn’t business taught from a textbook. The course combines leading-edge simulation-based teaching with hands-on entrepreneurial experience, helping you learn by doing at every stage of your journey. You’ll explore who you are as an entrepreneur, identify your strengths and passions, and develop the confidence to experiment with ideas, solve problems and adapt quickly. Alongside this, you’ll gain practical skills in areas such as agile working, pitch deck creation, storytelling, communication, financial planning and foundational digital and design skills that will help you bring ideas to life.
Every module is practical and experiential, meaning there is no clear line between your course and your start-up. Throughout the programme, you’ll work on your own venture, building your ideas through every interaction with the University. You’ll also become part of a thriving entrepreneurial community with access to dedicated start-up spaces, cutting-edge facilities, guest speakers and teaching from experienced entrepreneurs who have successfully built businesses themselves. Community and access to the wider regional and UK start-up ecosystem are central to the course, helping you build valuable professional networks and industry connections as you study.
As part of the programme, students are invited to apply separately for bursary funding through the Peter Coates Foundation as part of the Peter Coates Fast Forward Programme*. At the culmination of the course, individuals or teams of graduates may also have the opportunity to pitch for investment in their business idea, helping you take your venture beyond the classroom and into the real world.
