Andrew McManus

Coopted Committee Member

Andrew's background revolves around manufacturing and engineering. While he hails from a small coal-mining village outside of Glasgow, his career has taken him around the world and provided opportunities to pursue degrees in Engineering and Economics, along with post-graduate studies in Strategy & Innovation at the University of Oxford.

With over 35 years in industry, Andrew's career began in the Royal Navy, spending nearly 10 years in the Submarine service and holding several engineering roles within that environment. In 1997, with the birth of his son, he transitioned to civilian life whilst at Turner & Co, a prestigious Glasgow-based engineering firm. Over the next 10 years, he was involved in Power and Utility projects in South America, India, Africa and the South Atlantic, moving his family overseas during this time before settling back in Stoke on Trent.

For the past 15 years, he has been with Rolls-Royce Plc where he currently serves as Senior Vice President of Asset & Property Management. In this role he oversees 2.4 million square metres of manufacturing, test, office and warehouse space globally. His work combines his engineering expertise with strategic leadership, focusing on maintaining and redeveloping the estate to support people and product development, whilst also meeting energy/sustainability demands within an intensive manufacturing/test environment.

Though this role involves extensive travel, Andrew makes a committed contribution to supporting University of Staffordshire, driven by a personal connection as his son is a Law Graduate from the institution. Outside of work, Andrew and his wife enjoy traveling for family, music and leisure.
