Mechanical Engineering Lab

The mechanical lab is the place to investigate, test and develop mechanical designs, and to test mechanical principles in practice.

The lab has a wide range of experimental apparatus, test equipment, and resources for project work. There is specialist software and equipment for reverse engineering, precise measurement, offline CNC programming, development of test rigs, mechanical and structural testing, and project work.

The equipment and experimental apparatus is used in lab sessions to support the theory taught in lectures, for individual and group projects, and for postgraduate research projects. The Mechanical Engineering lab is part of the SmartZone, and is open to all students and researchers - get in touch with the technical specialist to discuss project ideas and get technical support and advice.
