Destructive Testing Lab

The powerful and precise testing machines in this lab allow you to test materials and prototype parts to breaking point.

The lab covers hardness, tension, compression, bending, friction, and fatigue testing, with machines calibrated to UKAS standards, for forces up to 100kN. Here students, researchers and external companies investigate the mechanical properties of metals, plastics and composites, and test how prototype parts stand up to loading.
