How Clearing works

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a way to find a university place if you don’t already have one. Whether you’ve changed your mind about where or what to study, have received unexpected results in your exams, or have just started thinking about university, we’re here to help.

When can I apply?

Applicants can apply to course vacancies from July to October. It's important to note that some courses fill up fast, so we encourage you to apply through Clearing as soon as possible.

2nd July - Clearing opens

Call us to discuss your options. If you already have your grades, you can apply at this stage.

13 August - Results day

For A-Level and BTEC students receiving their results - they're able to apply with us through Clearing.

19 October - Clearing closes

Many of our courses fill up before then, so reach out to our team early to secure your place.

Is Clearing for me?

Many of our graduates started their student life through Clearing. It’s a common route into higher education and is used by a wide variety of students. Whatever your background, wherever you see yourself in the future, you’ll find lots of opportunities through Clearing.

Clearing application steps

Collect your results

Once you've collected your results, visit our Clearing site to check out our courses and find out everything you need to know about the clearing process.
See if you're eligible for an instant offer online

Enter your qualifications and chosen course into our Offer Generator. We'll need some key information from you so we can give an instant decision on whether you’re eligible for a place, this makes the application process much quicker.
Start your application

If we can offer you a place, you can start your application online or request a call back from one of our Clearing advisors or academics for more information.
Accept your offer

Once your application is complete, it's time to officially accept your offer and look forward to starting your future with us here at University of Staffordshire London.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Clearing?

You can use Clearing if you apply after 30 June, didn’t receive the right offer for you, or didn’t meet the conditions of your offers.

When can I use Clearing?

If you have your exam results but you have no offers, you can use Clearing, it is available from July until September.

Where can I find my Clearing number?

If you’re eligible for Clearing, your Clearing number will be on the welcome page and ‘Your choices’ section of Track.

I've been offered a place. What do I do now?

Go to the ‘Your choices’ section of Track and click ‘Add Clearing choice’. Only do this when we confirm that we will offer you a place and you want to accept it.Fill in the course details by the date you’re given on the phone. This counts as you accepting the offer. So if we confirm it’ll show as an acceptance on the choices page of Track and we’ll send you a confirmation letter.You can only add one choice at a time, but if the university/college doesn’t confirm your place, you’ll be able to add another.

Why hasn't Track updated?

Track will update once we make a decision on your offer. If you’ve met the conditions of your offer, your place will be confirmed soon.

I'm currently holding a place elsewhere. How do I self-release?

Before declining your current place, you shouldget in touch with us first or use our offer generator

If you’re ready to join us through Clearing, you can release yourself from your current place and apply to University of Staffordshire London directly through your UCAS Hub.

1. Log In: Access your UCAS Hub account

2. Select Decline: From your homepage, find and select the 'Decline my place' option. Follow the instructions provided to confirm your decision.

3. Refer Yourself: Once completed, your UCAS status will reflect that you are in Clearing. You'll then be able to refer yourself through the UCAS Hub for a Clearing offer from the University of Staffordshire London.
